Association. in my principles of learning, looked like sound relationships with students. I put more time into getting to know each student using different activities and games that I hadn’t used previously. I had students working closer together in cooperative groups, they quizzed each other on how much their group knew about them, and I took each of their quizzes too! My students have typically worked in teams but they never created a product together to share with the class, until this past year. I plan to continue getting to know students names in the first week, and I plan to give out a student interest survey and read through them that first week.
Generativity wasn’t always present in my principles of learning. I have students reflecting on their work in class. I will have students use an assessment dialogue form, where they must explain their strengths and weaknesses on an assignment. My plan is to include more of a systematic approach to teaching them how to reflect and apply that to other areas in their life than just my class.
Adaptation is shown in my principles of learning through teaching students the growth mindset. I also follow a needs assessment approach to adjusting my instruction to fit learner’s needs. I will continue to do this by using the assessment dialogue form.
